practice run

Our Rec Center sponsors an annual downtown trick-or-treat parade for all the kids (and some adults!) to come show off their cool costumes for Halloween... so this year we used Friday afternoon as a trial run for tonight!
So here we have our S.W.A.T. Officer and Batman
out to save the world from bad guys, apparently:
as a side note, my annual thank you goes out to Andrea for the awesome Halloween bags!!!
So of course, Mr. Social found his buddies the Werewolf and Prince of Persia and was not seen again until his bag was full!
So I hung close to Batman and made him pose with a few of his friends, too...
Here he is with a Vampire - and getting a little uncomfortable in his mask & cape:
And here he is checking out Spiderman's supercool getup...
(see how we gave up on the mask & cape all together by now!)
While we waited for the S.W.A.T. officer to return from his mission, Batman checked out some of his earnings:
Here's the big guy coming in from the haul...
... and once we got home, here is my kitchen floor!
Not too shabby for a practice run. Can't wait to see how they do tonight!

firepit

Our latest backyard adventure includes a new firepit!
It's not at cool as the home-built one at Papa & Yaya's house... but it will certainly work for roasting marshmallows with friends on a cold pre-Halloween night!
We're looking forward to a slightly warmer weekend and some
good trick-or-treating fun!

Sam's post

Hi. This is Sam. I am taking over the blog today because I want to share my pictures and thoughts with you. Don't tell mom. Thanks.
So, one of my favorite things to do is use mom's old camera to take pictures.
Here is my brother Hamp playing mini-football:
I love my brother. He's so good to me and he lets me play with him.
He's very funny, too.
My Mojo and Dado were just here last weekend.
I had a great time with them - they love to play with me.
My mom says we play too hard, though because here is my Dado taking a little rest:
BUSTED!
Well, that's it for today. Next time I get a hold of the camera I'll be sure to share! Time to catch a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and then play in the snow!

bye bye!

I think Colorado has something against my parents...
When we awoke this morning, here is what our backyard looked like:
So Mojo & Dado left this morning in a fall blizzard - which by mountain standards isn't much, but it's enough to make it tough to drive in!
But knowing that they are safely on their way, I have to say what a wonderful visit we had! Our adventures ranged from building a train track to playing card games, from long afternoons at the park to quick but intense basketball games in the playroom!
Thank you for a great time! Love you♥

homecoming

We walked with Hamp's first grade class down to Main street to watch the homecoming parade... in the rain!
The weather wasn't the best, but it didn't seem to dampen Mojo & Sam's spirits!

The high school band played...
and then the masses all gathered on the courthouse lawn for the peprally. (did I mention it was rainy?!)

horses & deer

We just couldn't help but stop...
As Mojo & Sam and I were driving by we saw these horses getting a good run around the arena and they looked so cool! So we stopped to chat and check out the beautiful animals...
And to top off the day, we ran in to these two fellows on our walk through town...

Enjoy the fall... I know we are!

pumpkin patch

Last Saturday morning found us hunting for perfect pumpkins under a beautiful blue, autumn sky!
Hamp was so happy to find all his friends downtown!
Once home, Hamp and Sam got to work on the business of carving... with a little help from Mojo and Daddy!
One scary face... one sad face!
HAPPY OCTOBER!

Mojo's here!

Everyone is excited for whatever adventures
are in store while Mojo is here...
I'm sure there will be plenty of stories, games, pretend play and activities!

long shadows

A long weekend of stay-at-home and play with friends and watch football and rake the leaves kind of adventures!
But sometime the best adventures are just riding bikes in the middle of the street at sundown...

troy

The past few days we have shared adventures with our friend Skylar!
One of Hamp and Sam's bestest friends, Skylar has enjoyed playing with the kids next door:
(too bad we didn't get him a tie-dye tee shirt, too!)
and walking Hamp to school in the morning:
and best of all, playing football in the back yard with Hamp:
(this kid can throw, I tell you!)
Despite being only 13 days older than Sam, Skylar likes having Hamp around as a surrogate big brother who will play ball with him.
Sam thinks that's fine, though - he'll just play the role of "coach":
(that's his "coaching stick"...???)
You may (or may not!) be wondering where that nice, new child-sized football came from... or perhaps why we adopted our friends' kid for a few days.
Well, the ball was a gift to Skylar from his brand-spankin' new baby brother! And while mom & dad delivered and recovered in the hospital the past few days, Skylar stayed with us. The best part is that it was the perfect excuse to go meet baby Troy and introduce him to his new big brother!
Welcome to the world, little brother!
