And while some of us took the game seriously enough...
I think Hamp and Sam were in it for some real fun! We also got to take a drive "up river" into the mountains - beautiful scenery, cool mountain air, and of course a pile of dirt to play in!!! What a wonderful weekend with Mojo & Dado! Thank you for coming to visit ~ WE LOVE YOU!!!
The weekend has so far been dictated by the events held in town...
There was an awesome concert Friday night - music provided by our good friends' band One Time. They rocked the courthouse lawn and gained a throng of 3-8 year old girls as new fans.
Very cute. Then there was the infamous annual mini-triathalon...
~ in 2008 I participated and was thrilled to merely complete the event, regardless of time
~ in 2009 I shaved six minutes off my time (mostly because I did not stop to pee in the middle of the 2-mile run!!!) and did fairly well - by my standards anyway!
~ in 2010 I not only completed the event... I even swam an extra lap in the pool to prove myself! (just kidding... about proving myself, but I did swim an extra lap. Bummer.)
(250 meter swim ~ 6 mile bike ~ 2 mile run)
Then we spent the afternoon back at the downtown lawn for some Community Day carnival silliness...
Our adventures this week took us to the mountains of Summit County - and eventhough we spent most of our time in Breckenridge, I only managed to get a few pictures while at the park in Vail! Take one look at the beautiful mountain scenery and the incredible park structure, and you'll understand why! While Jason was in conference, the boys and I enjoyed a great day of bike-riding, playing, and pool time before moving on to Breck.
It was a great couple of days away - a mini-vacation of sorts!
The best part is that we brought Mojo & Dado home with us to spend the weekend us!
Our good friends, Kris & Marty organized a great Saturday of backyard games for everyone to enjoy!
There was horseshoes... ...ladder golf... ... bean bag toss...
... and the group favorite, Polish frisbee or Beersbee!
When games were not being played, we found many other ways to pass the afternoon. Besides all the great nosh, there were laughs and good company, and kids and animals to keep us entertained.
Shilo, the wonderdog was on hand to fetch people drinks from the cooler...
... and the kids had fun feeding the neighbor's horse!
We have spent the past week in full summertime play mode - riding bikes, going to the park and playing outside with friends all day, every day! It has been great - and a good precursor for what we'll probably be doing most of the next couple months... and today has been no exception!
Sometimes we don't have to go very far to find adventure... for us, in the summer we only have to go a couple of miles down the road to the Zagar Brown compound where we can find (on Mondays in the summer, at least!) great company, beautiful weather, a place to sit and visit and watch a dozen or so kiddos run amuck.
It's not required, but if the temperature is right everyone age 3 and under can go naked!
(Sam joined in directly...)
What a great way to get into summer... adventures with our favorite friends!
Thank you to Trina - a wonderful hostess! Here's to many more Mondays at Camp Zagar Brown!
