a long weekend of snow and sound

For President's Day weekend, Sam and I got out of town on a little adventure to ski Winter Park Resort with friends and catch a concert at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek.

The skiing was great - as much because of all the fresh powder as it was the company! Always fun to learn a new mountain... Sam even did a little backcountry tree skiing, with an unintentional out of bounds detour... worth it to get through all those snow pillows.

At the Vilar we got to see Counterpoint - a mesmerising combination of piano and tap dance that was as interesting as it was entertaining! So great to out of town, explore new places, and see (hear!) incredible new art forms... great way to spend a few days!

We've had some fun adventures in the snow so far this winter...

from sledding in Steamboat, to snowboarding at Sunlight, and even some snowshoeing in Meeker, both in town and up to the yurt! Here's to hoping we keep getting more snow = more adventures!

Birthday Boys!

This was a banner year for birthdays - Hamp is legal and Sam is an adult!

I wanted to to make sure they were well celebrated, so this year when Sam said ALL he wanted for his birthday was to ski with friends I was happy to book a weekend condo at our favorite Sunlight Mountain so he could do just that. He spent a day on the snowboard with his girlfriend, and a day on skis with all his buddies.

Then a quick trip to Boulder was in order to take Hamp and his girlfriend out to dinner.... and drinks, of course! Had the best evening with him talking and laughing over chips & salsa and margaritas, then s'mores over the fire pit, then donuts for breakfast the next morning!

I love how these boys celebrate life - always with friends, good food, and adventure.

Makes my heart happy and I know their dad would be so proud!
