Hamp just wrapped up the end of his last football season with a 47-0 victory! The team will have another weekend or two of post season games... but the last regular home game for these guys was pretty great.
He has made quite a name for himself this year as the kicker. The Meeker Cowboys hasn't ever been much of a kicking team, so to have a kid who can get nearly every extra point and the occasional 40-yard field goal too... well, that has been pretty fun to watch!
my favorite photo from this season... it sums it all up:
I know he loves the camaraderie the most... I don't even think he minds spending most of the game on the sidelines, waiting for the chance to kick because I watch him at the games talking and dancing up and down the sideline with everyone on the team! Regardless, I am proud of his leadership on the team and how much he enjoys being a special part of the team's success over the years. At this last home game the Senior players brought their parents on the field for recognition and I was touched by Hamp's sweetness. That hug, on the field right before he ran off to get ready for kickoff, might be one of my favorites!
In the meantime.... Sam has been keeping himself quite busy since golf season finished! His true athletic passion is volleyball. However, there is no men's team here so to stay involved with the sport Sam has taken on the role of Team Manager for the MHS women's team. His dedication amazes me - he still gets to learn about the game, attend practice and work out, and most importantly be a part of the team. So he is quite happy and will also have the next few weekends taken up by post season games!
A HUGE thanks to Bobby Gutierrez for always making a point to be at the kids' events and take amazing photos... these are all his!
